ಈ ದಿನ ನನ್ನ ಹಾರಾಟ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ
ಒಂದು ಮಾತನೂ ಆಡುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ ನಾನು
ಹೆಬ್ಬಯಕೆಗಳ ಎಲ್ಲ ಮಾಟಮಂತ್ರಗಳ ಮಲಗಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

ಜಗ ಸಾಗಿದೆ ಅದು ಸಾಗಬೇಕಾಗಿರುವಂತೆ
ಹೂದೋಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೆಲ್ಲಗೆ ಜೇನಿನ ಝೇಂಕಾರ
ಮೀನು ಕುಪ್ಪಳಿಸಿದೆ, ನೊರಜು ಯಾರದೋ ಆಹಾರವಾಗಿದೆ
ಮುಂತಾಗಿ.

ನಾನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಈ ದಿನ ರಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೇನೆ
ಪುಕ್ಕದಷ್ಟು ಶಾಂತ
ಚಲಿಸದೆಯೂ, ಅಪಾರ ದೂರವನ್ನು
ಕ್ರಮಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ

ನಿಶ್ಚಲತೆ, ಮಂದಿರದ ಒಳಹೊಗಲು
ಇರುವ ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳಲ್ಲೊಂದು.

Today I’m flying low and I’m
not saying a word
I’m letting all the voodoos of ambition sleep.

The world goes on as it must,
the bees in the garden rumbling a little,
the fish leaping, the gnats getting eaten.
And so forth.

But I’m taking the day off.
Quiet as a feather.
I hardly move though really I’m traveling
a terrific distance.
