ಒಂದೇ ಬಾಗಿಲು

ಕತ್ತಲು ಕವಿದಿದೆ
ನನ್ನ ಬಾಳಮನೆಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ
ಒಂದೇ ಬಾಗಿಲು
ಒಳ ಬರುವುದೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದಲೇ
ಹೊರ ಹೋಗುವುದೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದಲೇ…

ಅವನು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ
ಅವನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಗೋಡೆ ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳೇ ಇಲ್ಲ
ನನ್ನ ಬಾಳಮನೆಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಒಂದೇ ಬಾಗಿಲು
ಈ ಇಹ ಹೇಗೆ ನಿಂತಿದೆ
ಬೆಳಕು ಬಾಗಿಲಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಲಾಗಿ !
ಒಳಗೆ ಕತ್ತಲು ಕವಿದಿದೆ.

ಅವನೋ ಕಿಂಡಿಯಲೇ
ಕೈತೂರಿ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ
ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಾ ಬಾ
ನನ್ನ ಮಗುವೇ ಎಂದು
ಹೇಗೆ ಬರಲಿ ಹೇಳು
ಈ ಇಹದ ಕಣ್ಣು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ?

ಬೆಳಕು ಬಾಗಿಲ ಹೊಸ್ತಿಲಲೇ
ಹೇಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡವಾಗಿ ನಿಂತಿದೆ
ಹರಿವಾಣದ ತುಂಬ ಚಿನ್ನದ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಗಳ
ಹರಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಸುರಿ ಹೇಂಟೆಯAತೆ
ಕಾಲಬುಡದ ಮಣ್ಣನ್ನೇ ಕೆದರಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತ
ಈ ಇಹದ ಬಾಳು !
ಕವಿಗೆ ಕಾಣದಂತೆ ಬೆಳಕಿನ ಆ ಲೋಕ
ಕವಿದ ಕತ್ತಲಲ್ಲಿ… ಬೆಳಕಿಗಡ್ಡ
ಇರುಳು ಚಂದ್ರನಿಗೂ ಅಡ್ಡ
ಓಹ್ !
ಬೆಳಕು ಕಿಂಡಿಯಲಿ
ಅವನದೇ ಕೈ
ಒಡೆದು ಬಿಡು ಗೋಡೆಗಳ
ನನಗಾಗಿ…
ಕತ್ತಲಿಗೆ ಹೊಂದಿಕೊAಡ ನನ್ನ ಕಂಗಳ
ಬೆಳಕಿಗಾಗಿ
ಹೃದಯದೀಪವ ಹಚ್ಚಿಡಲೇ ?
ಎಸೆ ಈ ಕಿಂಡಿಯಲೇ
ಬೆಳಕು ಕಿರಣಗಳ
ಹಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಿದೆ ಈ ಹಸಿಮೈಗೆ ಬೆಳಕ
ಮನಸ್ಸು ದೀಪವಾಗಲು

ಓಹ್ !
ನಾನೀಗ ಒಂದು ಬೆಂಕಿಯದ್ದೇ ಪೆಟ್ಟಿಗೆ
ಎಸೆ ಮದ್ದು ಪೇಟಗಳ ಬೆಂಕಿಕಡ್ಡಿಗಳ ಒಳಗೆ
ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಡಬೇಕು
ಈ ಇಹಕ್ಕೂ
ಈ ಕತ್ತಲಿಗೂ…

A Single Door

Darkness has descended,
Only around my life’s abode:
Just a single door there is for my house
To get in and to exit.

He is beckoning to me,
His house has no walls nor door.
Mylife’s abode has only a single door.
This earth stands between
The door and the light
There is darkness within.

He is beckoning to me
With his hand pushed through the window
He calls me tenderly
Come out, come out, my child,
But how do I leave,
Escaping the eyes of the world?
At the very threshold of the door,
Meant for the light to enter
Like a full-term pregnant lady-hen
Carrying a cradle of golden eggs aplenty,
Scratching the soil with the claws at her feet
Stands this earthly life.

That world of light is out of the poet’s sight
It is covered with darkness, hiding all light
Hiding even the moon at night.
Oh!
Through the small window
Is his hand beckoning to me,
‘Break the walls’

For me to see the light
With eyes adjusted to darkness
For the sake of light
I shall light this lamp ofmy heart
Throw through this window
Rays of light
I have to smear light on this raw body
To light my heart
Oh!
I am now a box of light
Throw within sticks coated with the paste ofexplosive powder
I should set ablaze
This earth
This darkness.
